Borz Hund
Developed by Kian R. Lashgari in Ontario, Canada, this breed began its journey in 2017. The name comes from Kian's first dog and one of the foundational dogs in the program.
Vision:
The aim was to create a balanced protection dog, excelling in protection while being the perfect family pet. Initially, favorite breeds were used to develop the ideal phenotype, which was then refined for drive, grip, and commitment. Various breeds were introduced to enhance specific traits. Despite attempts by others to replicate this phenotype, the breeding details remain undisclosed to preserve the bloodline's integrity.
Physical Characteristics:
BorzHunds sport a short coat, the most dominant colors being black and red. Black ranges from jet black to a coffee shade, while red varies from dark chocolate to a honey-like hue. These dogs are tall and athletic, with males reaching up to 28 inches and 115 lbs, and females up to 90 lbs. The focus is on performance over size, as larger dogs may face health issues and reduced lifespan.
Distinctive features include tight faces, rounder heads, fuller cheeks, tight paws. All of our dogs have cropped ears, and docked tails, along with a more appealing appearance we do this as a protective measure to ensure less ear infections, hematomas, happy tail etc.
Temperament:
These dogs are calm, eager to please, affectionate, and great with children and protective of the home, making excellent family pets. Bred for protection, they are high-drive yet have an excellent off-switch at home, adapting well to various environments. While not always good with same-sex dogs, they do well with small dogs and pets if introduced properly.
Exercise Requirements:
High-drive and high-energy, Borz Hunds need regular exercise but not extensively. A short, high-intensity workout daily keeps them in prime condition.
Training:
Eager to please, these dogs are easy to train, with obedience training recommended by 6 months. For protection work, starting with prey drive and introducing defense later yields the best results.
Ideal Living Conditions:
Because of the short coats these dog have, they are unsuitable as outdoor dogs in regions with colder climate.s They are able to acclimate well to heat if introduced and exercised responsibly. Meeting their exercise needs allows them to adapt to various living spaces including apartments, condos, houses etc.
